What is Zytanix 5 for:

Zytanix 5 medication is a quinazoline diuretic, prescribed for high blood pressure.

How does Metolazone work:

It helps the kidneys to ged rid of unwanted water and salt from the body into the urine.

How should Metolazone be used:

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food. The recommended dose range is 2.5 – 10 mgday.

Common side effects of Metolazone :

Low potassium levels. Signs include feeling tired, weak, numbness, or tingling; muscle cramps; hard stools (constipation); throwing up; or a fast heartbeat. Feeling dizzy. Rise slowly over a few minutes when sitting or lying down. Be careful climbing. Upset stomach or throwing up. What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Metolazone :

Alert your doctor if you have kidney or bladder disease. – Alert your doctor if you are pregnant or if you become pregnant while being treated with Metolazone. – Alert your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed while being treated with Metolazone.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. – Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of low potassium. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Metolazone with other medicines:

Alert your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially those listed here: – other medicines for heart or kidney disease, especially captopril, enalapril and related medicines. – other types of water pills such as furosemide (frusemide). – a mood medicine called lithium. – painkillers known as NSAIDs. – ciclosporin (a medicine used in transplant & other illnesses). – Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.

Are there any food restrictions

Your doctor may give you some potassium tablets while you are being treated with Metolazone. Alternatively, he may ask you to take more potassium-rich food such as bananas, prunes or orange juice. – Avoid alcohol.

How do I store Metolazone :

Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. – Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
